Yoga for Runners online: 3 workshop series
8th & 22nd February and 8th March 2023
7-8.30pm
Using movement, breath and mindfulness YOGA for RUNNERS will help all levels of runner to build the flexibility & strength they need get the best from their sport.
Whether you are looking to improve your running form; develop the strength to run longer & faster; or to protect your body so that you can keep on running - these workshops will have something for you.
physical release .
stretching & lengthening the ‘tighter stuff’ in run specific muscles of the hips & legs
- tightness in muscles often causes instability & inefficiency when we run - with specific focus on releasing tension in the muscles in the hips & legs.
improving posture .
finding ‘neutral’ pelvis, then activating & strengthening the ‘weaker stuff’ in the run specific muscles of the core & hips
– strength in the core & hips can improve stability, efficiency & speed in runners, as well as help reducing the likelihood of injury.
mental release .
using breathing techniques, restorative poses and meditation
– helping runners improve their breathing to cope with the intensity & endurance involved in running, as well as helping runners feel the benefit of the recovery & rest – both critical to any successful training program.
Yoga & meditation provide a most effective discipline to allow active people be the best they can be.
During the online workshops, Sam will guide you through a yoga sequence to help you get into your body & mind, to improve proprioception; whilst reminding you how intrinsic self care, rest & recovery is when it comes being the best we can be – whether we run because we love to be outside with friends, get a kick from a personal best, or want to finish a race.
In any effective training program there will be a strong focus on recovery. As recreational runners without coaches & training squads we may not be aware of the risks of muscle overuse & overtraining - without recovery we will continue to stress our bodies increasing our chances of sustaining injuries and illnesses caused by muscle overuse and overtraining.

During our time together we will:
· release the overused muscles - the ‘tighter stuff’, activate the underused muscles - the ‘weaker stuff’ that come about from the repetitive nature of our sport
· learn methods to improve our fitness through improving the rhythm & depth of our breath
· encourage recovery & rest for the body & mind, giving us the ability to strengthen & focus our mind so we can get the best our training, helping us achieve our training goals safely & successfully
Come join me to find out more about how to use our wonderful practice that is yoga to get the best from this summer season on the roads & the trails.
These workshops are taught by RYT500hrs (Jason Crandell); 200hr Yoga for Sports & BTF Triathlon Coach Sam Edwards
